Key Stakeholder Engagement:
Firstly, thank you all so much for contributing to the stakeholder feedback questions via Padlet on Thursday 8 June 2017. I am so excited by the reflective responses from our staff and principals. I am currently using your feedback to adapt and write my research method. I have not started the actual research process yet, but I needed our feedback for the Methodology section for the PB4L application as part of the Masters of Applied Practice.
Stakeholder Engagement plan- questions for teachers
Summarised snapshot of the feedback received:
Research and involvement -
Nearly everyone who responded, knew that I was doing a masters research involving the creation of a new PB4L application tailor made for our school. Also most people wanted to be involved in some form or another i.e trailing the app, giving feedback and suggesting improvements.
Communication and keeping connected -
Your contributions indicated that you would like me to communicate with you all via regular emails, face to face meetings and small Facebook/blog updates. It was also great to have suggestions and examples like how Critical Pixels updates its clients via short videos, posts on social media.
Reflections on implementing and changes to our systems -
Some staff believed that keeping PB4L consistent, changing our practice, keeping it authentic, praise based and reducing the time needed as the main challenges to implementation. Staff and Principal gave feedback around the system being improved via digital technology and making it more efficient. Some staff indicated that a wider variety of rewards systems needs to be used in the school and not just the house points/gold cards currently in place. The Principal also indicated that we needed more ways of acknowledging staff. Some staff wanted better consistency of the acknowledgement system being used and across all staff not just teachers.
What job does PB4L do for you?
The Principal gave feedback on the use of data and systems for addressing students behaviour. Some staff suggested that PB4L helps to manage students behaviour and use the systems to help change it to a positive type. It was also suggested that PB4L could be the explicit teaching of expected behaviour.
Who else needs to be involved and how might we engage them?
Some staff and principal suggested that student voice via student leaders could help space the feedback on the application and this will need to be strongly considered for ethics approval (very difficult process). Staff also suggested that relievers, whanau, support staff should also be included in the communications and feedback collection.
Padlet used for collecting feedback to questions
Thank you all again for taking part in the feedback for the key stakeholder engagement and I will continue to update regularly on our blog and via email as requested! I am still debating ont he set up of a facebook page but I will discuss with our development team and get back to you on that suggestions. If at any stage you want to know more about the Masters research please do not hesitate to email lreddy@wesleyintermediate.school.nz.
